| the funny things people do....
according to the gansta name converter i could be one of the following:
when i typed in Hee-Won (thinking they can't possibly convert this one!! i found a gliche~~), it miraculously named me: Stupid-ass Goat Smuggla.
not surprisingly, i did not find this one too appealing or gansta-like for that matter. so i tried my "other name" Silvia (the Spanish class version) and got: Rump-thumpin Hoopti Rida. Interestingly enough, when I spelled it Sylvia (the regular version), it came up with Cold Mexican.
Some other possibilities when I entered in my last name as well were: Old Killa, Ugly Bitch Ass, Played Our Shrinky Nutz.
i guess i'll never be a gansta after all. at least not a cool one
try it out! http://www.jasonschock.com/gangsta/index.php
| while the primary focus of my being at college isn't purely academic, without school, i don't belong here. i need to be motivated. it has been such a long time since i've done some real work-- by this i mean, not doing the bare minimum and turning in the necessary assignments, but enjoying the readings and trying out the study guide problems and such. back in the day (just last year, actually, but anyways) when i was a freshman, fresh out of high school... things are falling apart now. i don't know if anyone else feels this too, but this false sense of security (everything will be okay, etc. etc.) is really taking over my sense of practicality: get off your butt and do your work!
this is a weird, perhaps even twisted connection, but in astronomy, we've been talking about the e x p a n s i o n of the universe and how the world would end. (all the matter such as galaxies will expand further and further and eventually, they will be so far away from each other that each of them will become very very cold. conditions for life will cease to exist.) sounds like science fiction, almost. not to sound apocalyptic or anything, but this is supported by real data. if it provides one with any comfort, it will not happen anytime soon. cool, but pretty depressing stuff, huh? anyways, i feel like my life is e x p a n d i n g too fast right now. i wish i was better at simplifying things! along the lines of taking one things at a time, i guess i'll worry about the possibility of leaving out significant details later.
| share the love~ it's EASTER

| i have such a sore throat... but i will not get sick. i can't!! man, someone's gotta stay healthy!
everyone who's sick (stressed out, lack of sleep, crazy ny weather, whatever) i hope you feel better soon in the meantime, please don't get me sick hehe
btw, anyone want to paint Easter eggs with me? i actually never made eggs as a child so it might be a lot of fun to try now. not like hardcore painting, but i don't know, maybe some stickers and markers?
HAPPY EASTER and happy belated b-day to j-z~
| it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way-- in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
i'm probably stating the obvious here: this paragraph seems extremely contradictory. all these pairs of opposites (belief and incredulity, wisdom and foolishness, spring of hope and winter of despair)... what are they saying? Strangely, as i realize that the first of the pair is true, i read the second and i find myself nodding in agreement again. at first glance, this paragraph seems to tell the reader very little. upon further inspection, however, these pairs of opposites seem to illustrate the constant struggle between the two forces. is the balance always steady?
